Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Includes Metal Gear MSX Games, Physical Release Seemingly Confirmed

More good news for the upcoming collection.

Konami confirmed several new details regarding Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 and its release later this year. The upcoming release includes classic Metal Gear titles as Konami aims to provide the “complete compliation” experience for the franchise.

During PlayStation Showcase, Konami announced Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 would bring the original Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater games to PlayStation 5. Additional platforms outside of PlayStation 5 were not named, but Konami confirms the collection comes to “the latest platforms.” The official website for the collection went live after its announcement at PlayStation Showcase 2023, and several more details have been revealed.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Includes MSX Games

The official PlayStation Store page for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 reveals Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake from the classic MSX system. Further, the original Metal Gear Solid title will include VR Missions and Special Missions. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater are based off of their HD Collection versions. Regional versions of these Metal Gear series titles will be available as additional downloads in the PlayStation Store. Players that prefer physical copies of their games may also look forward to a physical release according to the official Konami Spain account.

Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and more Metal Gear titles may come in another volume. The official website notes that more titles will be announced soon, and the existence of a first volume surely implies that a second volume will be released. However, Peacewalker and Metal Gear Solid 4 have not been officially confirmed by Konami, so fans must wait for more official news. More details, including a release date and additional platforms, will be revealed at a later date.

Lastly, the new Metal Gear Solid collection launches in fall 2023 for PlayStation 5 and “the latest platforms.”
