Final Fantasy XVI Public Demo Re-Confirmed, Supports Save Data Transfers

Featuring a flashback of Clive's youth.

In a new Final Fantasy XVI hands-on preview by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the company and Square Enix have confirmed a public demo for the new action RPG. A few more details about the public demo were revealed in a new PlayStation blog post.

The new Final Fantasy XVI demo features the game’s opening hours. Specifically, the game contains a flashback to protagonist Clive Rosfield’s teen years, which Square Enix recently detailed in the April State of Play showcase. PlayStation Blog re-confirms that the demo will be available via the PlayStation Store ahead of the full game’s launch. Save data from the Final Fantasy XVI demo transfers over to the full game as well.

“We first sample the game’s opening hours, a flashback to a key period in Clive Rosfield’s youth that sets up what’s to come. (It’s this section that players will experience in a public demo which drops ahead of the full game’s launch, with your save carrying over to the full title),” PlayStation Blog said.

    Gameplay Videos and Pre-Launch Event

Square Enix recently updated its official Final Fantasy XVI website with several new gameplay videos. These gameplay videos expand on what was shown during the State of Play showcase this past April. As discussed in the April showcase, Final Fantasy XVI players take on the role of Clive Rosfield, the Shield of the Grand Duchy of Rosaria. Clive’s story is told from his teen years to his thirties, and the protagonist gains several Eikonic powers throughout the journey.

Before launch, Final Fantasy fans may tune into the Final Fantasy XVI Pre-Launch Celebration live stream event on June 11. The event will be held from Los Angeles, California, but Square Enix invites all fans to participate by joining the live stream. More details about the Final Fantasy XVI Pre-Launch Celebration are coming soon, so stay tuned.

Lastly, Final Fantasy XVI launches on June 22 for PlayStation 5 worldwide.
