Future Capcom Games Will Feature Cross-Play Support

The future after the releases of Street Fighter 6 and Exoprimal.

Capcom representative director Haruhiro Tsujimoto confirms via Famitsu that upcoming Capcom games will feature cross-play support. The company’s first major releases with this cross-play initiative include Street Fighter 6 and team-based action game Exoprimal

Tsujimoto states that development of Exoprimal was driven by the desire to gain more experience and expertise with cross-play. He believes that Capcom will develop more games like Exoprimal as “testing grounds” for cross-play functionality. Eventually, cross-play may become a mainstay feature for all of Capcom’s multiplayer releases going forward (Thanks, Ryokutya2089 and Siliconera).

Street Fighter 6 will feature cross-play support across all platforms alongside Exoprimal. Cross-play is a highly requested feature for fighting games due to a shared player base, which allows players to compete in more online matches. In Exoprimal, players may team up with nine other players in co-op missions and four other players in weekly missions. Cross-play should allow players to match up more quickly in Exoprimal, but its overall sales success and player retention will be other determining factors.

Street Fighter 6 and Exoprimal Coming Soon

Recently, Capcom held a Street Fighter 6 Showcase to detail the game’s World Tour, Battle Hub, and Fighting Ground modes. After the showcase, Capcom released a Street Fighter 6 demo for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Further, Capcom revealed Rashid, A.K.I., Ed, and Akuma will be available in Street Fighter 6 as Year 1’s lineup of post-launch DLC characters.

At launch, Exoprimal players will be able to enjoy story missions in Dino Survival, 10-player co-op missions, 5-player weekly missions, and much more. Further, Exosuits may be customized to the player’s liking, and players may earn several rewards by completing in-game challenges and leveling up the Season Pass. Future Exoprimal updates will introduce collaborations with other Capcom titles, more seasons, Exosuit variants, new content, and more.

Street Fighter 6 releases June 2 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Lastly, Exoprimal launches July 14 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Windows.
