SEGA revealed brand-new details about the immediate future of Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis including updates arriving in May 2023. Additionally, the version 2.0 update Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis was teased with several major changes coming soon.
May 1 and 10 Updates
The May 1 update for Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis brings two revival AC Scratch Tickets: Reminiscence Collection May ’23 and Weapon Camo Collection May ’23. This update is rather concise since another major update will arrive in just nine days’ time. On May 10, part two of the NGS 2nd Anniversary event kicks off with new 24-player limited-time quests, new items, the debut of the Specu Rappy, limited-time tasks, and much more. Further, the all-new Designer Dreams ’23 AC Scratch Ticket will be live with the first batch of winning items from the PSO2 10th Anniversary Item Design Contest. Players may also draw from the special Revival AC Scratch Ticket, 2nd Anniversary Thankful.
May 17 and 24 Updates
The May 17 and 24 updates for Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis bring the Refined Form May ’23 SG Scratch Ticket and Soul of the Wild AC Scratch Ticket respectively. On May 24, week two of the NGS 2nd Anniversary Part Two is underway with another new limited-time quest and more limited-time tasks to complete with additional rewards. These are the final updates for May 2023 in Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, but much more is coming soon in June 2023.
Version 2.0 – Creative Space
During the latest episode of NGS Headline, series producer Yuya Kimura addressed the player base about issues that arose during development of Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. After two years of constant trial and error by the development, the game’s content originally planned from its launch is finally complete. This June, a major Ultra Evolution update will be released, which is also known as Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis version 2.0.
The Ultra Evolution update will allow players to link parts in the Creative Space via the Connect System. This feature will encourage players to build a wide range of game elements in Creative Space by combining a variety of parts. Players may also make use of the new Portable Holograms elements in Creative Space. Alongside the Creative Space updates, version 2.0 will bring several new features.
Version 2.0 – New Features
In Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis version 2.0, players may toggle a new cel shading function to bring an anime-inspired look to the game. Players may adjust the outline emphasis and shadow density of the cel shading feature. Further, version 2.0 will introduce a brand-new enemy type that will challenge players in the field. Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis version 2.0 is planned for a June 7 release across all platforms. Players can expect a slew of free rewards leading up to the update’s launch.
