During a State of Play showcase, producer Naoki Yoshida revealed the official theme song for Final Fantasy XVI. The official theme song is performed by Kenshi Yonezu, a renowned Japanese musician and singer-songwriter.
PlayStation and Square Enix revealed over 20 minutes of gameplay footage for Final Fantasy XVI during the April 13 State of Play showcase. The State of Play showcase introduced side-quests, more characters, Clive’s Hideout, and much more. Near the end of the presentation, Yoshida revealed that the game’s official theme song was written and performed by Kenshi Yonezu.
The theme song for Final Fantasy XVI is “Tsuki Wo Miteita – Moongazing” by Kenshi Yonezu, a famous singer-songwriter and producer. Yonezu’s most recent work includes the opening song “Kick Back” for the highly popular anime, Chainsaw Man. Alongside the announcement of the theme song, Square Enix shared two messages from both Yonezu and Yoshida.

“Words cannot express the impact Final Fantasy has had on my life,” Kenshi Yonezu said. “I never thought or imagined that I would ever receive an opportunity like this. I wrote this song especially for this game. Thank you”
“When I found out that we’d be able to work with Yonezu-san, I was not only surprised, but overjoyed,” Naoki Yoshida said. “I’m a big fan of Yonezu’s work, and I know that he has a passion for creating music that resonates across the generations, so I was sure that he’d be able to capture the world, the story, and the themes of FFXVI.”
Yoshida continued, “He’s not only an amazing artist, but also an avid game and a FF fan, so please look forward to hearing his theme song!”
