Bethesda’s Starfield Has Been Delayed to September

‘Starfield Direct’ is Coming in June

Once again, Bethesda has delayed Starfield; the game will now launch on September 6th, 2023, pending no further postponements, for PC and the Xbox Series X and S. However, there will be a Starfield Direct on June 11th, starting right after the Xbox Games Showcase.

Starfield takes inspiration from Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls series, which includes a silent protagonist and a variety of first-person conversations. The game also promises to explore over 100 star systems and more than 1,000 planets for the player to adventure on and chart out, much like Hello Game’s own No Man’s Sky.

    Comments From Todd Howard

In the new official launch date announcement trailer. Todd Howard from Bethesda confirmed that the game will release on September 6th, 2023. In the announcement trailer, Howard also mentioned that the Starfield Direct in June will provide for a deeper dive into the game; Howard continued, “There’s so much that we still have to show you. The game has many of the hallmarks that you’d expect from us, but it’s also a very unique experience.”

He followed this up with, “We know you’ve waited a long time to play something new from us. Believe it or not, we’re kind of the same. We miss it. We really can’t wait for you all to play it.” Howard did not mention any reasons as to why the game was being delayed for a second time only that he’s thankful for fans’ continued support and excitement. Again, Starfield will be available on Windows PC and Xbox Series X and S at launch and will be available on day one on Game Pass.

    In Summary

The game was originally set to launch on November 11, 2022, but was delayed into the first half of 2023. Now, finally, it has been confirmed for September 6, 2023. While Starfield being delayed might be disappointing, this is the best-case scenario to allow Bethesda to iron out any bugs prior to launch.
