Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Sequel May Happen If There’s Enough Fan Demand

Jack may come back later down the road.

Square Enix recently held a broadcast for the Different Future DLC for Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, teasing that a sequel may come if fans clamor for it. Producer Tetsuya Nomura will work on the sequel with Koei Tecmo if the opportunity presents itself.

During the Different Future broadcast, Nomura discussed the game’s reception at a launch and the community’s continued support. At launch, the game faced widespread criticism from reviewers and players alike, but it seems everyone has grown fond of Jack and the crew since then. Additionally, some fans have even discussed a potential Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin sequel according to Nomura.

If fans want a sequel to happen, they should spread news about the game to others. Nomura believes “there may be a time where we can meet again” if word of mouth spreads through Different Future’s release. If Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin resonated with many fans, then a sequel will likely come. Moreover, Nomura says he would like to work with director Nobumichi Kumabe and Koei Tecmo once more (Thanks, Noisy Pixel).

A sequel does not appear to be in Nomura’s immediate plans considering the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy and Kingdom Hearts IV are in active development. However, fan demand and strong sales may influence Nomura and Square Enix to pursue Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin as a series instead of a single title.

Lastly, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
