Dead Space – PC System Requirements

Can your rig adequately render Isaac Clarke's RIG?

The release of Dead Space, like one of its horrifying Twitcher necromorphs, is fast approaching. While PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players can rest easy knowing that their physical or digital copy of the game is bound to run acceptably (look forward to hearing if that’s the case in our review), PC gamers need to make sure their hardware is up to snuff. The Dead Space remake is a huge graphical overhaul of the original game, so if you haven’t upgraded your graphics card since Isaac Clarke was the new kid on the block in the horror scene, you’re definitely going to need to hunt one down. Let’s take a look at the Dead Space PC system requirements.

Here are the minimum specs you need to run Dead Space (2023) according to its Steam page:

Dead Space – Minimum PC System Requirements / Specs

Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    OS: Window 10 64-bit +
    Processor: Ryzen 5 2600x, Core i5 8600
    Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: AMD RX 5700, GTX 1070
    DirectX: Version 12
    Network: Broadband Internet connection
    Storage: 50 GB available space
    Additional Notes: 50GB SATA SSD

Worthy of note, “minimum requirements” means what it sounds like: this is the bare minimum needed to run the game. To play the game with this hardware configuration means you’d likely need to turn all of Dead Space‘s bells and whistles off and run all options at “low”. You’ll be playing the Dead Space remake in what’s colloquially known as “potato mode”.

If you’re looking to play the survival-horror remake with standard graphics settings at a decent resolution with a (hopefully) stable framerate, you’ll need your PC to meet the “recommended system requirements”. See how your rig stacks up by comparing your hardware to the list below.

Dead Space – Recommended PC System Requirements / Specs

Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    OS: Window 10 64-bit +
    Processor: Ryzen 5 5600X,Core i5 11600K
    Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: Radeon RX 6700 XT, Geforce RTX 2070
    DirectX: Version 12
    Network: Broadband Internet connection
    Storage: 50 GB available space
Additional Notes: 50GB SSD PCIe compatible

If your PC meets or exceeds these requirements, you’re off to the races, or the Z-Ball court, rather. If you didn’t hit the minimum requirements though, it looks like you’ll need to make some upgrades.

What’s the cheapest hardware I can play Dead Space (2023) on?

If you’ve already got a PC, upgrading your individual components might be the cheapest option depending on what part/how many parts you need. Otherwise, the Xbox Series S is the cheapest piece of hardware that Dead Space is releasing on at $299 (often on sale for $249). If you don’t want to sacrifice resolution and/or framerate, your next most affordable option is a PlayStation 5 Digital Edition at $399.

Dead Space is coming to PC via the Epic Games Store, the EA App for Windows, and Steam. If you have any other questions about Dead Space, be sure to check out Final Weapon’s comprehensive FAQ on the upcoming horror game!
