Chained Echoes to Add New Game Plus, Japanese Language Support

Quality of life updates coming soon.

Deck13 Spotlight and developer Matthias Linda revealed Chained Echoes will receive updates with new features such as New Game Plus and Japanese language support.

Japanese language support will be added sometime this week before 2022 ends. Further language options are not planned at the moment. The reasoning for this is due to lack of sales in regions where languages such as Chinese and Spanish are primarily spoken.

“We know that there are quite a few of you requesting it in Chinese and Spanish,” Deck13 Spotlight said in a Steam news post. “And while we would love to have these languages in the game, we need to make decisions based on numbers. Yes, both languages are the two most spoken languages on the planet, yet sales wise the territories are, especially for indie games, not doing too well. If Chained Echoes had less words, that’d be not a big deal but with more than 200.000 words, the situation is a different one.”

Matthias Linda is currently working on a New Game Plus mode for Chained Echoes and further quality of life improvements. Console patches may take longer to implement compared to updates on PC due to the certification process. Players should still see important updates arrive across all versions, however.

Lastly, Chained Echoes is available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam
