Sony announced the PlayStation 5 surpassed 25 million units sold worldwide as of September 30, 2022. The latest PlayStation 5 sales figures were revealed in Sony’s latest financial report for the second quarter of fiscal year 2022.
Roughly 3.3 million PS5 units were sold in the latest quarter (three-months period) ending on September 30. The number of units sold matches the same period during fiscal year 2021.
Supplemental statistics for Sony’s latest quarter reveals PlayStation Plus subscriber count dropped from 47.2 million to 45.4 million since the same period in fiscal year 2021. The drop in subscribers may be due to the introduction of the new PlayStation Plus tiered service.
PS4 and PS5 sold a combined total of 62.5 million software units during the latest quarter. The new total is nearly 14 million units down from the previous 76.4 million units sold during Q2 FY2021.
This past September, the US NPD Group revealed PS5 was the best selling console in dollar and unit sales.
