In a new interview at Twinfinite, Kazutaka Kodaka discussed a potential return to the Danganronpa series and his ambitions for Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE.
According to Kazutaka Kodaka, he chose to pursue an original title instead of a new Danganronpa title. Spike Chunsoft supports Kodaka in his endeavors since the company was not pushing for a new title as well. However, the company would likely say yes to Kodaka proposing a new Danganronpa game and someday, he might go back to the franchise. In fact, Kodaka is really open to returning to the Danganronpa series at some point in the future.
“I wanted to make a new IP, and Spike Chunsoft wasn’t pushing for a Danganronpa sequel, so I decided to go with it,” Kodaka told Twinfinite. “To be honest, if ask Spike Chunsoft whether I should make a new Danganronpa title, they might say yes, so I didn’t ask (Laughs).
It’s not like I don’t want to make another Danganronpa game, but I have a lot of ideas and want to create something new. Someday I may go back, maybe. Danganronpa is more of a niche game, and now I’m working on a bigger one, but it’d be cool to go back to Danganronpa at some point afterward.”
Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE launches in Spring 2023 for Nintendo Switch.
