    Crystal Dynamics continues as co-developer of Perfect Dark following Embracer Group acquisition

    The Initiative from Xbox Game Studios confirmed that Crystal Dynamics will continue co-developer of Perfect Dark following the Embracer Group acquisition. The development teams made great progress and The Initiative “will be continuing to work with them in their new chapter.”

    The Perfect Dark reboot is in developmment for by The Initiative and Crystal Dynamics. Crystal Dynamics was hired in September 2021 to help develop the new reboot. Perfect Dark is expected to release on Xbox Series X|S and PC with day one access for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

    Embracer Group’s acquisition of Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montréal, and Square Enix Montréal closes in July – September 2022 for $300 million. Square Enix plans to invest funds into blockchain, AI, cloud gaming and publishing efforts. Additionally, Square Enix aims to maximize revenue generated from their games developed in Japan.

    Microsoft hosts the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase on June 12th with new game announcements and updates. Fans can expect updates on games from The Initiative and other studios under the Xbox Game Studios umbrella. 3rd party partners are also a part of the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase.
