TAMPERE, Finland – 20 APRIL, 2022 –Finnish indie game studio Dreamloop Games has announced today that they have entered into a high six-figure USD agreement with an unannounced publishing partner to develop a new IP.

Dreamloop has long been noted as a tech partner with console expertise, most recently bringing The Ascent to PlayStation 4 & 5 in collaboration with Neon Giant, and completing a massive five-platform port of Sunwolf’s Imp of The Sun.

After completing ports for 9 titles and 24 individual platform releases in the last several years, Dreamloop has been itching to make their first foray into own-IP development since the release of their critically-acclaimed debut title, Stardust Galaxy Warriors, in 2016.

Despite Dreamloop’s emphasis on technical skill and platform expertise in client work, the studio has maintained a full roster of creatives across all key disciplines since 2015. Their hiatus from releasing own-IP projects has only served to sharpen and refine their ideas for future games and build a back-catalog of ambitious IPs for later development.

“We’ve spent the last few years honing our skills and storing up a lot of creative energy,” said Joni Lappalainen, Dreamloop’s founder and CEO.

“Now, with this game signed, we’re taking the first steps toward showing the world what Dreamloop can do and what we’re all about. We make games with heart and teeth, and this project is just the start. From here on out, we want every project to be bigger, better, and bolder than the last.”

While precise project and partner details are not yet ready for release, Dreamloop firmly intends to lean into their core areas of expertise, and has slated this title for release on both PC and Consoles at some point next year.

“It’s quite rare to find a team that has been working together as long as we have and has such extensive experience shipping projects across multiple platforms, let alone one that has also been slowly brewing their best ideas and waiting until the time and resourcing is right to make sure they can fully actualize their vision,” said Lappalainen.

“In the next few years, we’re hoping to turn a lot of heads – we’ve got ideas for big IPs across genres and styles, and the expertise to execute. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

More details about the new IP from Dreamloop Games are coming in the near future. In the meantime, stay tuned at Final Weapon for the latest gaming news and updates!
