    Switch production affected by roughly 6 million units due to semiconductor shortage this year

    Nikkei published a new report today about the ongoing semiconductor shortage affecting Nintendo’s overall Switch production for the current fiscal year. The report states that the shortage affected Nintendo’s production by around 20% of their initial 30 million goal. This means that Nintendo would produce around 24 million Switch units by end of March 2022 instead of 30 million. A Nintendo spokesperson confirmed the issue and says the company is “assessing their impact on production”. Nintendo is still looking to have a strong holiday season with the Switch but to a lesser extent.
