Metroid Dread surpasses 86,000 physical copies sold in first 3 days of release in Japan, sets a new franchise record

Metroid Dread topped the recent Famitsu weekly sales charts in Japan! The game moved 86,798 physical copies in Japan as of October 10th which means it was only tracked for 3 days. This sets a new record for the Metroid in Japan as the fastest selling game in the series in the country according to Nibellion. Metroid Fusion for the GBA is #2 at 49,680 physical copies sold in Japan during its launch week in 2002. Famitsu sales charts does not track digital Nintendo 1st party games so Metroid Dread could easily be over 100,000 copies sold in Japan alone by now.
