Konami trademarks Shin Contra in Japan, known as Contra: Shattered Soldier in the west

Konami recently filed an interesting trademark in Japan and made public today (April 27th overseas). The company filed a trademark for Shin Contra also known as Contra: Shattered Soldier from the PS2 in the west. Konami could be re-releasing this game via GOG like previous Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid games but that remains to be seen. It’s very likely that it is just a renewal to maintain the rights to the IP.
