    Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train loved setting records in Japan, and it seems it plans to do the same here in the United States. In its opening day, the film brought in $9,500,000 across 1,605 theaters, becoming the biggest opening day for any Funimation film released thus far. Mugen Train was projected to bring in $10M in its opening weekend, however with opening day almost topping that number, it is now projected to bring in over $19,000,000 for its opening weekend.

    Dragon Ball Super: Broly was Funimation’s previous biggest opening weekend holder, with that film releasing in 2019 and bringing in $9,800,000. Mugen Train’s success is fantastic news for all anime fans, as the success of this film is yet another example of the industry’s growth domestically over the past few years.     Worldwide the film has brought in $397,655,439 currently, which will absolutely top $400,000,000 once Saturday’ box office numbers come in. Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train is currently playing in theaters, and will continue to do so through Thursday, April 29th. The film will be released digitally across all storefronts on June 22nd in the United States.
