Gaming trademark filings and renewals may be signs that companies are interested in bring back some classic IPs. In Square Enix’s case, it seems like Chocobo Grand Prix from the original PlayStation could be coming back! Chocobo GP and Chocobo Grand Prix have been trademarked in English and Japanese. The new trademarks were filed back on December 1st.
*Update* (March 8th): As of February 26th in Canada, Australia and March 1st in the EU, Chocobo GP was once again trademarked by Square Enix.
*Update 2* (March 10th): As of March 4th, Square Enix trademarked Chocobo GP in the US.
