Flashback Tapes revealed for Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time

During the Opening Night Live livestream, Crash Bandicoot 4 producer Lou Studdert revealed a brand new mechanic for the game, in the form of Flashback Tapes. These tapes are collectibles within the main levels of the game that unlock side levels more reminiscent of the 2.5D levels from the original PS1 Crash games.

Studdert explained that these levels are the optional challenge levels in an already difficult seeming game, and also have their own story purposes. The levels take place around the time when Dr. Neo Cortex first created Crash himself, a time which we haven’t seen in much detail.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time releases on October 2nd, 2020 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In the meantime, stay tuned at Final Weapon for more in the latest Japanese gaming news and updates!
