Game Developers Conference Postponed Over Coronavirus Fears

After multiple well-known companies pulled out the event over the fear of Coronavirus. The Game Developers Conference (GDC) has officially been postponed. According to a post on the GDC’s website.

“After close consultation with our partners in the game development industry and community around the world, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone the Game Developers Conference this March.”

The postponement comes after many game publishers and developers pulled out of the conference. Mainly due to the fear of the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak worldwide. Sony and FaceBook were the first to pull out. Microsoft announced they were pulling out as well. Other companies such as Epic Games, Activision Blizzard, and Gearbox followed suit just today.

However, despite all of this. GDC has decided to postpone the event and not outright cancel it. The post goes to say that “we fully intend to host a GDC event later in the summer. We will be working with our partners to finalize the details and will share more information about our plans in the coming weeks.” It remains to be seen when specifically in the summer GDC will be held.
