Yu Suzuki would like to return to Virtua Fighter and Outrun, says “there might be something happening”

VGC sat down for an interview with former SEGA employee and YS NET CEO Yu Suzuki. He’s currently finishing up development of Shenmue III and would like to revisit other franchises. As of now, Suzuki is currently a consultant for Sega and still has ties to the company. Here’s the excerpt from the VGC interview:

Asked if he would like to return to Virtua Fighter and Out Run, Suzuki told VGC: “Yes I would like to [return to those]. If you’re going to ask me what, I can’t answer that!”

Pushed on whether that means he might already be in discussions for the IP, he replied: “Yes, there might be something [happening]. But since the IP you mentioned are owned by Sega, I would need to work with them. I am a special consultant with Sega, but we will need to talk.”

Yu Suzuki is well known for being the Sega AM2 founder. He started many Sega franchises in the past including Outrun, Virtua Fighter and Shenmue. Shenmue III will release on November 19th for PS4 and PC.

Yakuza Remastered Collection announced, Yakuza 3 Remastered is available now!

SEGA announced today that they will be releasing the Yakuza Remastered Collection over the course of the next year. The Yakuza Remastered Collection includes Yakuza 3 Remastered, Yakuza 4 Remastered, and Yakuza 5 Remastered. SEGA announced a release plan for the games in the collection, as they will not all release at once. This starts with Yakuza 3 Remastered, which is available right now. Yakuza 4 Remastered will be available on October 29th, 2019, and Yakuza 5 Remastered has a release date of February 11th, 2020. Learn more about the collection below.

The Yakuza Remastered Collection is far from a typical console generation port. In addition to graphical and performance upgrades (720p –> 1080p at 30fps –> 60fps), all three games have gone through a rigorous re-localization process. The English scripts for each game have been reviewed, revised, and even rewritten in some cases, and content previously cut from the western releases of Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 have been re-added in The Yakuza Remastered Collection.

In Yakuza 3, this means the Mahjong, Shogi, Massage Parlor, and ever-popular Cabaret minigames, as well as a collection of Substories cut from the original release, are now available in the West for the first time!

Several quality-of-life changes have also been added for each release in the collection, including a Substory tracker on the map and the ability to toggle between English and Japanese written lyrics during Karaoke.

The Yakuza Remastered Collection Release Details:

The Yakuza Remastered Collection is available now digitally for $59.99 and includes Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4, and Yakuza 5—previously only available for PlayStation 3—beautifully remastered in 1080p at 60fps.

Yakuza 3 is available to download and play immediately after purchasing the collection—Yakuza 4 and Yakuza 5 will become available on October 29, 2019 and February 11, 2020 respectively.

A limited run of The Yakuza Remastered Collection: Day One Edition will release on February 11, 2020 for $59.99, and contains Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4, and Yakuza 5 on two disks in a striking red collectible case emblazoned with Kiryu’s trademark dragon tattoo. This release marks the first time Yakuza 5 will be available in a physical format in the west, so the collection also includes a genuine Yakuza 5 PS3 case; after five years since the game’s original release, series collectors can finally fill the gap in their library! Supplies are very limited, so get your order in while supplies last!

Are you ready kids? I hope you are because Spongebob Squarepants Battle For Bikini Bottom: Rehydrated gameplay has finally been released!

Gameplay for Spongebob Squarepants Battle for Bikini Bottom: Rehydrated was finally released during a German stream at Gamescom earlier this morning. It features the first level of the remake. Rehydrated is in development for PS4, XBO, Switch and PC.

From what I’ve gathered it will be utilizing Unreal Engine 4 with Purple Lamp Studios featuring both old and new recordings of the voice acting. Hopefully that means Clancy Brown will return. There will be another live stream tomorrow at 3am PST, 6:30am PST and 7:30am PST on THQ Nordic’s Twitch channel so do keep an eye out for more.
