Bandai Namco has announced that it has postponed the opening of its Cross Store and THE GUNDAM BASE stores in the Mall of America. Initially, it would have opened at the Minneapolis location on September 30.
The new opening date is currently unknown. In a press release, Bandai Namco further comments on the news: “We know fans have been looking forward to these new destinations, and while the stores will not open as originally planned, Bandai Namco remains committed to bringing these experiences to Minneapolis. We’ll share the new opening date as soon as it is confirmed, along with details on opening-day activities, exclusive merchandise, and other experiences planned for fans.”
When it opens, the Bandai Namco Cross Store will feature an official lineup of anime, figures, collectibles, card games, and more alongside a Namco arcade. THE GUNDAM BASE will have exclusive model kits and merchandise, alongside immersive displays and hands-on experiences. These will eventually serve as the second U.S. locations for both stores as Bandai Namco expands its retail presence.
Next year, Bandai Namco Filmworks’ new Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO anime series will premiere in April 2027 in North America and Japan. In Japan, Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO will air on TV. According to Bandai Namco Filmworks, Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO is part of the RG Project cross-media initiative. RG Project also includes the upcoming Gundam Rogue Orbit game, which shares the same world settings while portraying it from “different ways and visions.” RG Project is also on a new timeline separate from the first Gundam anime’s “Universal Century” timeline.
