The Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) has reported an in-person attendance count of 257,642 for Tokyo Game Show 2026, which ran from September 17 through September 20 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. This is slightly down from the 263,101 attendees that were present for all four days of Tokyo Game Show 2025, but it’s worth noting that TGS 2026′ fifth and final day was canceled.
Tokyo Game Show 2026 opened with its first business day on September 17 with 53,630 attendees. The second business day saw a slight decrease with 52,545 attendees. September 19 experienced the largest number of in-person attendees during the four-day period with 78,678 attendees. September 20, the second public day of TGS 2026, saw a slight decrease with 72,789 attendees.
The CESA had canceled day 5 of Tokyo Game Show 2026 on September 21 due to an approaching typhoon that was predicted to cause heavy rain and strong winds in Tokyo. Originally, TGS 2026 was planned to be the first five-day iteration of the annual gaming event. All activities on September 20 were held as planned.
“Due to the approach of Typhoon No. 25 on Monday, September 21 (a national holiday), winds and rain are expected to intensify in the afternoon, raising concerns about potential disruptions to public transportation,” the CESA said. “Therefore, prioritizing the safety of all attendees, exhibitors, and staff—as well as ensuring everyone can return home safely—we have decided to cancel the event for the entire day.”
