Nintendo has officially released Version 3.0.1 of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition tonight, which addresses multiple bugs involving New Game Plus and background music. In addition to these two fixes, a few other bugs were spotted and resolved by the development team and included as part of this patch. You can check out the full patch notes below:
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where, when receiving WP as an amiibo reward while playing New Game Plus with accessory slots increased to three slots, accessory slots would reduce to two slots.
- Note: If you re-unlocked the extra accessory slot after this bug occurred, then the items expended to unlock the extra slot will be returned.
- Fixed an issue where the background music and sound effects balance differed from the Nintendo Switch version.
- Fixed an issue when a Driver joins the party where the Driver will sometimes join with an exorbitant amount of WP.
- Fixed an issue in which Rex sometimes becomes uncontrollable when switching from Pyra to Mythra during combat.
- Fixed an issue in which Pouch Item effects did not activate during combat after swapping MOMO to a form other than the one she was in at combat start.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition added MOMO as a new Rare Blade, and this pick is quite interesting considering MOMO is yet another character from the Xenosaga series. She joins both KOS-MOS and T-elos, who are both already Blades in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Beyond this, the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition supports 4K resolution and 60FPS gameplay, with 1080p support in handheld mode. This falls in line with both Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Cutscenes and gameplay have both received these enhancements, and Monolith even addressed fan complaints about field skills.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is available now on Nintendo Switch 2. A physical copy of the game, which includes the upgrade pack and can be played on either Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2, will launch on October 1. We rated the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition a 5/5, writing, “Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is everything I wanted out of an upgrade, with sharper visuals, 60 FPS performance, and one of the original game’s biggest frustrations finally fixed. More than anything, it gave me an excuse to return to Alrest and experience one of my favorite games of all time in the best way possible. Nearly nine years later, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 remains an unforgettable RPG that stands among the very best games I have ever played.”
