Dune: Awakening is Getting Movie Content DLC on Console Release

Cross-play also confirmed for post-launch

Published:

During Gamescom 2026, Funcom had a lot to say about the upcoming console release of Dune: Awakening. Alongside premiering seven minutes of gameplay footage for the PlayStation 5 version, Funcom also announced the Filmic Archive DLC, a cosmetic DLC featuring outfits from Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two.

What’s more, the developers confirmed that cross-play will come after the console release, but they did not provide a specific date. Currently, Dune: Awakening is set to arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 22 alongside The Filmic Archive DLC for all platforms.

Funcom details the upcoming DLC and updates:

Filmic Archive DLC

Releasing on September 22nd on all supported platforms, Filmic Archive features iconic looks inspired by the Dune films. This includes the iconic Aegis of the Unwalked Path armor, drawn from Paul Atreides’ visions of the Fremen holy warriors in Dune: Part One, and the Caladan Stormcoat worn by both Paul and Duke Leto in Dune: Part One. In addition to other outfits from the movies, the DLC also includes an extensive 73-piece base building set in the style of the feared Sardaukar. The DLC will be available for $9.99.

7 Minutes of PlayStation 5 Gameplay Footage

While visitors at Gamescom can get their hands on the PlayStation 5 version of the game for the very first time this week, those at home can still get a glimpse at how the console version of Dune: Awakening looks, plays, and performs. Today, Funcom released a 7-minute long gameplay video, captured on a PlayStation 5 Pro.

On the base PlayStation 5, Performance Mode will run at 60fps with dynamic resolution. On PlayStation 5 Pro, Performance Mode runs at 60fps. Quality Mode will run at 30fps on both systems. The game runs in upscaled 4K on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro, in both Performance and Quality Mode.

Cross-play Confirmed for Post-Launch

When the console version of Dune: Awakening was announced before summer, the single most popular request from the community was for PC/console cross-play. Today, Funcom could confirm that cross-play will be coming to Dune: Awakening post-launch. The studio cannot yet commit to a release date but will share more information when available.

Dune: Awakening is available now for PC via Steam. Final Weapon reviewed Dune: Awakening and noted that it’s “a love letter to the world of Frank Herbert” and “has some of the most immersive survival gameplay in recent years as well as an intriguing entry in the Dune lore.”
