Xbox and The Coalition have released an overview trailer showcasing multiplayer in Gears of War: E-Day. The multiplayer features a new mode titled Horde Siege and the return of Versus, as well as toggleable Metallica music in the menu.
Horde Siege is an evolution of the original Horde mode. It is set across the biggest multiplayer maps ever seen in the series and features three squads of four out on their own individual missions across the same stage. This results in wildly unpredictable battles. There are multiple classes, unlockable weapons, and tactical gear. The classes include Assault, Marksman, Breacher, and the Medic. Players will need to fulfill primary objectives, while deciding if they want to emphasize optional secondary objectives, which provides support in combat.
Versus is the classic PVP 4v4 experience of previous games evolved with the addition of E-Day’s new movement mechanics. This allows for the squad-based chaos that players are familiar with, alongside new gameplay and combat styles. The launch maps include Park, Battleship, Outpost, Precinct, Market, and Skyward. There are 4 modes: Team Deathmatch, Conquest, Demolition, and Crucible. Demolition focuses on planting a bomb at the enemy team’s base, and defending your own. Crucible asks players to hold a Power Core, which grants points the longer you hold it, and can unleash a devastating projectile with a high charge. Post-launch updates will add new modes and maps.

Those who pre-order Gears of War: E-Day will be able to access the multiplayer beta on August 6-10. The open beta will last from August 13-17. Lastly, Gears of War: E-Day will release for Xbox Series X|S and PC exclusively on October 6.
