Square Enix has announced that a new update will release for Octopath Traveler 0, which adds a new Monster to the Monster Arena and a new Resident later in 2026. Silhouettes teasing the new additions imply that the new resident is Elliot from The Adventures of Elliot: Millennium Tales, with Octopath Traveler 0 secret boss Amatsukami no Orochi being the new Monster Arena inclusion.

Square Enix revealed the following about both new additions:

  • A New Formidable Foe Appears in the Monster Arena – To all you veteran travelers who have grown too strong (thanks to those Nuts), a certain formidable foe will return, stronger than ever before. Take on an enhanced Capture battle, then face an Arena battle that is far more formidable. Can you overcome this trial?
  • A New Resident Arrives in Town – Phenn in Wishvale has received a letter of introduction for a new resident. It seems they are an “adventurer” from another world…

Octopath Traveler 0, alongside the original game and Octopath Traveler II, is available now for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. A Octopath Traveler 0 free demo is available now with save data transfers over to the full game. The Standard Edition costs $49.99, while the Digital Deluxe Edition costs $59.99. Further, Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II will release on October 1 for Nintendo Switch 2. There will not be an upgrade path or save data transfer.

Final Weapon previously reviewed Octopath Traveler 0 and gave it a 4.5/5 score, noting that the game “delivers the series’ most cohesive story yet, backed by its sharpest combat system and a surprisingly addictive town-building feature. By blending a focused narrative with a large, memorable cast and wrapping it all in gorgeous HD-2D visuals, it stands as both the strongest entry in the franchise and one of the best JRPGs in years.”
