Valve has enacted a major price increase for its main Steam Deck OLED 512 GB and 1 TB models, which are still out of stock at the moment on Steam. The price of Steam Deck OLED 512 GB has increased from $549 to $789, and the price of the Steam Deck OLED 1 TB model increased from $649 to $949.
Steam Deck was once seen as one of the most affordable entry points to the handheld PC market, but that may not be the case any longer. Valve alluded to the possibility of price increases for its Steam hardware family when addressing the status of Steam Machine and Steam Frame earlier this year. In February, Valve reiterates its plans to ship out the Steam Machine and Steam Frame in the first half of 2026. However, the company also noted that memory and storage shortages have affected its initial internal plans for the shipping schedule and pricing due to rising costs and limited availability.
On May 4, Valve launched its new Steam Controller, which sold out faster than the company had anticipated at its $99 MSRP. Valve is currently working on getting more Steam Controllers in stock over time, and there will be an update on the expected timeline for replenished stock soon.
Valve’s flagship controller is designed with comfort and control in mind with magnetic TMR thumbsticks, HD rumble with haptic feedback (4x haptic motors), grip-enabled gyro called Gyro Sense (hold and release to enable/disable), trackpads, a Steam button, and Quick Access menu functionality. The controller is natively compatible with Steam Input across devices and utilizes the Steam Controller Puck, a low-latency wireless transmitter that provides fast and stable connection for both play and charging.
