TOKOYO: The Tower of Perpetuity solo developer //commentout has announced MELTMARE, a new side-scrolling action adventure game for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. A MELTMARE demo will be playable at Tokyo Game Dungeon 12 on May 3, and at the time of this writing, the game is roughly 45% complete in development.

Here’s an overview of MELTMARE from the official website, courtesy of Gematsu:

MELTMARE is an action adventure game in which you assist Lua, a heteromorphic girl on the other side of the screen, in escaping from a mysterious facility teeming with monsters. The player, somewhat reluctantly, ends up taking on the request to escort and guide the girl through the screen. As a strange condition of the request, the entire process must be live-streamed. The girl is trapped in a Western-style mansion. What truths await to be uncovered…?

Dialogue scenes are depicted with dramatic direction using Live2D and a desktop interface, along with an unpredictable scenario, while battle scenes utilize 2D pixel art action. All of this is streamed on a video-based social media platform, where viewers can share hints in the comments or send donations that can be used to upgrade equipment.

TOKOYO: The Tower of Perpetuity is currently available now for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
