World Trigger Reboot Anime Gets New Teaser Trailer, Manga Goes on a 1-Month Hiatus

The staff of the TV anime of Daisuke Ashihara’s World Trigger manga revealed a new teaser trailer for the upcoming reboot series. The teaser trailer was accompanied by the reveal of the main staff and cast members for the World Trigger reboot anime as well.

Morio Hatano returns to direct the anime series at Toei Animation. Series script supervisor Hiroyuki Yoshino and character designer Toshihisa Kaiya also return.

The returning cast members include:

  • Tomo Muranaka as Yūma Kuga
  • Yūki Kaji as Osamu Mikumo
  • Nao Tamura as Chika Amatori
  • Yūichi Nakamura as Yūichi Jin
  • Hideyuki Tanaka as Replica

As previously confirmed, the new World Trigger anime reboot will adapt the original manga from the first chapter and include various arcs, including the Border Enlistment Arc, Large-Scale Invasion Arc, and B-Rank Wars Arc in a “powered-up first season” produced by Toei Animation.

What’s more, the official X (formerly Twitter) account for the World Trigger manga confirmed that the manga will take a one-month break due to author Ashihara’s poor health. The manga will return in the July 2026 issue of Shueisha’s Jump SQ. magazine, which releases on June 4.

The first World Trigger anime from Toei Animation premiered in October 2014, and a second season premiered in October 2015. An English dub of the anime premiered in February 2020 in Crunchyroll, followed by the second season in January 2021. A third season premiered in October 2021, and Crunchyroll simulcasted the anime series as it aired in Japan. The second and third seasons also received an English dub.

Ashihara’s World Trigger manga entered serialized in 2013 in Weekly Shonen Jump. The manga entered multiple hiatuses due to Ashihara’s health, and the manga received 29 volumes thus far. VIZ Media and MANGA Plus publish the series in English digitally, and print volumes are available in English as well.
