Materia Collective has announced it will release two physical soundtracks for the Metal Slug 30th Anniversary in Q3 2026. The first, a “Complete Game Soundtrack” will launch for $74.99 in the form of 8x CDs, while the second, “Original Game Selections,” will release as 4xLP Vinyl Records for $109.99.
Both collections “celebrate 30 years of run-and-gun action” and span “Metal Slug 1–7 and Metal Slug X.” The releases are made in direct collaboration with SNK, as a tribute to one of its most beloved franchises. The vinyl boxset is “housed in a premium rigid box featuring official artwork from the games, with layout by Diego Rodríguez, and pressed on camo-colored Forest Falcon vinyl.” The CD set, on the other hand, also features art by Diego Rodríguez and is “presented in a premium digibook format featuring official artwork from the games.” They’re both available to pre-order now.
Recently, SNK opened up a website, illustration, and social media account dedicated to the Metal Slug 30th anniversary, which teases the future of the series. The official website reveals that SNK is “reigniting and rebooting the series with a wide range of exciting projects—including new ventures in gaming!” It will likely reveal more details about the series’ future at a later date.
The most recent entry in the Metal Slug series, Metal Slug Tactics, released on November 5, 2024. The game is available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Lastly, Materia Collective will reveal more information about the exact release date of the two soundtrack collections at a later date.
