Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold, the newest expansion to kick off the “Godless Realms Saga” in earnest. Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold beckons players to the reflection of the Fourth when the expansion launches in January 2027. There, players will experience a world being ravaged by ever-spreading ice.
Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold will be accompanied by the release of Patch 8.0 with the following content:
- Two new jobs: tank and physical ranged DPS
- Level cap increase from 100 to 110
- New cities
- Distinctive new areas
- New gigantic constructs and other monstrous threats to overcome
- New allies to encounter
- New dungeons
- New trials
- A new raid series
- A new Ultimate raid
- PvP updates
- Ongoing content updates, including new gear and crafting recipes, updates to the Duty Support System and more
Further, the new expansion will bring a collaboration Alliance Raid series based on the studio khara’s Evangelion anime series.
Patch 8.0 and subsequent 8.x patches will bring Seasons, an Armoury update, and improved character customization as well:
- Seasons: An overhaul to the way players earn rewards and improve their characters
- Armoury Update: To better facilitate playing with multiple jobs
- Expanded Character Customization: More ways to make your character stand out from the crowd
The events of Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.5 Trail to the Heavens will set up the path to Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold. Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.5 will launch on April 28 and feature the Beastmaster job, new main scenario quests, a new dungeon, the final instalment of the Echoes of Vana’diel alliance raid series, a new Trial, and so much more. The second part of the Patch 7.5 main scenario will be released in September 2026.
