MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls is Getting Gameplay Changes Based on Beta Feedback

PlayStation and Arc System Works have released a message from MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls producer Takeshi Yamanaka, revealing that there will be gameplay changes and refinements based on player feedback from the closed beta tests and event demos. Some improvements to MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls were already seen in the Unbreakable X-Men trailer, including updates to Assists, character switching, and Link Attacks. A video showcasing the upcoming changes was also released.

Message from the Producer

Dear Tōkon Fighters,

This is Takeshi Yamanaka, producer of MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls. Thank you for your undying support for this project! We hope you enjoyed our X-Men Team Reveal announcement. We were truly touched by all the comments and the excitement shared online.

We are currently refining the game design based on feedback from event demos and Closed Beta Tests 1&2. Some improvements are visible in the trailer, including updates to the Assist mechanic, faster character switching, and adjustments to Link Attacks. Additional changes, such as tuning the frequency of area transitions, are not shown in the trailer.

We’ll be showcasing the updated game build through hands-on demos at gaming events around the world, and we look forward to meeting you and hearing your feedback. Up next, the new build will be playable at the ARC WORLD TOUR Finals in Seoul, South Korea on March 20th. A total of 11 characters will be available, including the newly announced Magik, Wolverine, and Danger.

MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls launches August 6 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. An Ultimate Edition will be available with the Year One Character and Stage Pass (four playable characters and an extra stage), a Howard the Duck lobby avatar, a Cosmo lobby pet, different colors for all 20 characters, and the following costumes:

  • Spider-Man – Advanced Suit 2.0 From Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
  • Storm – Punk Rock Costume
  • Iron Man – Classic Costume
  • Captain America – Classic Costume
  • Doctor Doom – Supreme Ruler Costume

Additionally, those who pre-order the game will get access to the Infinity Gauntlet lobby equipment, Cosmic Surfboard lobby ride, and Baby Groot lobby pet.
