Square Enix has released the original Final Fantasy VII on PC via Steam and GOG with new and updated features, including 3x speed mode, the ability to turn battle encounters off, battle enhancement mode, and autosaves. Final Fantasy VII is 60% off to mark its updated debut on GOG as well.

Players who own the 2013 Edition of Final Fantasy VII on Steam have instant access to the new version at no additional cost while retaining access to the original version. It’s worth noting that save data is not compatible between both versions.

Here’s a breakdown of the new features:

    • 3× speed mode
      • Play through the game at up to three times the speed! This feature can only be used in battle, travel, and select events.
    • Ability to turn battle encounters off
      • Activate this option to turn off random encounters. Story event battle still must be completed to advance the story.
    • Battle enhancement mode
      • Activate this mode to recover HP/MP during battles and max out the Limit gauge.
    • Autosave feature

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S on June 3. Square Enix is actively developing the third part of the FFVII Remake trilogy for Nintendo Switch 2 as well, with director Naoki Hamaguchi noting that the Nintendo Switch 2 version will not affect the overall quality of the final game.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is available now for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. The game includes the Episode INTERmission DLC featuring Yuffie Kisaragi and “Streamlined Progression.” Streamlined Progression is an optional feature that grants access to unlimited MP and HP, unlimited limit and ATB gauge during battles, 9,999 damage, easier weapon ability acquisition, and more.
