Naoki Hamaguchi has revealed that Square Enix plans to “share more updates on the FINAL FANTASY VII Remake Project than ever before.” This news comes directly after the reveal of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S, which is set to launch on June 3, 2026.

The third and unannounced title in the Final Fantasy VII remake project is likely set to be revealed soon, based on rumors and Hamaguchi’s message. The first two games launched exclusively for PlayStation 5, but it is unclear at this time if that will remain the case for the third game with this new multiplatform approach.

This news comes just after the launch of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S. In our 4.5/5 review, we wrote, “Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is an absolute joy to play on Nintendo Switch 2. This fantastic RPG is filled with memorable characters, an amazing narrative, and an engaging combat system that’s almost impossible to put down. The game runs great and looks excellent, with performance consistent at 30 FPS. While some visuals can appear grainy due to heavy DLSS usage, it’s a small trade-off for having this wonderful game on the go.”

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, our 2024 Game of the Year, is set to launch on June 3 for Switch 2 and Xbox.
