Sony Interactive Entertainment has released its financial results for the three months ended on December 31, 2025, revealing that PlayStation 5 sales have reached a total of 92.2 million units worldwide. According to sales numbers from the financial results, eight million of the 92.2 million PlayStation 5 units were shipped worldwide during the third quarter. This is down 1.5 million from the same period during the previous fiscal year.
132 million active users were on PlayStation Network as of December 31, which is up three million from the same period exactly one year ago. Combined PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 software sales reached 97.2 million units during the third quarter, resulting in a 1.3 million increase year-over-year.
13.2 million of the software sales were first-party games, which is up 1.6 million units from the same period in the previous fiscal year. Furthermore, 76% of the software sales were full game digital downloads, resulting in a 2% year-over-year increase from the same period in the previous fiscal year.
Previously, Sony confirmed that Ghost of Yōtei reached 3.3 million copies sold as of November 2—32 days after the game’s initial release. Ghost of Yōtei is available now for PlayStation 5, and it’s not available on PC at the time of this writing. Final Weapon reviewed Ghost of Yōtei and gave it a 4/5 score, noting that the game is “a great evolution by the foundation that Sucker Punch built with Ghost of Tsushima.”
