Kaori Mado’s Kimi to Hanabi to Yakusoku to coming-of-age romance light novel is getting an anime film adaptation on July 17 in theaters in Japan. A new trailer for the Kimi to Hanabi to Yakusoku anime film was released as well.
The cast includes timelesz’s Shōri Satō as protagonist Makoto Natsume and actress Nanoka Hara as heroine Aki Hayama.
Kei Suzuki directs the Kimi to Hanabi to Yakusoku to film at Synergy SP and The Answer Studio, and Kōhei Mori wrote the screenplay. Yūji Watanabe is the character designer, and Michihiko Umezawa planned and produced the project with Shin-Ei Animation.

Shogakukan’s Gagaga Bunko imprint published the novel with illustrations by Akamoku on December 18, 2025. The story is set during the Nagaoka Festival Grand Fireworks Show, which is one of Japan’s three major fireworks shows that draws several thousands of visitors to Niigata Prefecture. Makoto and Aki connect over a drawing of a fireworks display.
