Fishing is back once more in The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon with a variety of achievements and rewards to earn. In this guide, you’ll be able to keep track of all 28 fish in Trails beyond the Horizon, along with where and when the fish can be caught in the playthrough.
In The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon, the fishing mini-game and its mechanics are mostly unchanged from Trails through Daybreak II. Fish can be caught after Van gets his first fishing rod in Act 1, and there are three baits that can be used: Fishing Bait, Dumplings, and Deluxe Dumplings. Bait can be bought from shops, orbment stations, and the Epstein Workshop in Grim Garten. What’s more, new fishing rods are earned by completing achievements (pictured below).
Across Calvard, a variety of fish can be caught from fishing spots, and by using Shard Search, you can find spots brimming with rare and large fish. Fish can be caught in the Grim Garten as well, including fish you may have missed out on. However, to catch all 28 fish, you must catch all previous 27 fish before reaching a certain point in Rean’s route, so here’s a spoiler warning before delving deeper.
Note: a few fish on the list first appeared within the Grim Garten fishing spots during my playthrough, but mileage may vary.

Act 3 Rean Route 3
At the start of Act 3 Rean Route 3, you should ensure that you’ve caught all 27 previous fish in Trails beyond the Horizon. If you haven’t, you can go to the Grim Garten and catch the fish you missed out on. Act 3 Rean Route 3 is the only chance you have to catch the 28th and final fish.
With all previous fish caught, the Longlai’s Guardian 4SPG/topic quest will become available with a green icon on the map. You can accept and progress this quest to earn the Taigongwang God-Rod, which is required to earn the final fish and fabled Longlai’s Guardian, the Lion King. Once complete, the All Fish Caught achievement will be available with a reward to redeem.
