Nintendo has announced that it will discontinue the Hulu app on Nintendo Switch on February 5, 2026. It’s likely due to the upcoming merger, where all of Hulu’s library will be available on Disney Plus, and the original Hulu app will no longer be available on any hardware.
The Nintendo support website states the following: “The Hulu app is no longer available in the Nintendo Switch eShop with support for the application ending on February 5, 2026.” It is unknown if Nintendo will eventually release a Disney Plus app on the system. Nintendo and Disney may reveal more at a later date.
Recently, Ubisoft and FX announced that it will be developing an original TV series adaptation of the Far Cry franchise for Hulu. The series will feature a completely original story. Noah Hawley (Legion, Alien Earth, Fargo) and Rob Mac (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) will produce the series. The latter will also star in it. While little details about the series’ story is unknown, each season will take place in a different location with a completely different cast.
The official announcement post describes the show as “the exact level of chaos your therapist told you to avoid.” While it will premiere on Hulu in North America, it will release on Disney Plus in other regions. In a statement, Mac stated the following: “Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized. Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX family continues to lift me up with their constant belief and support.”
