Control Resonant, a sequel to Control, is releasing in 2026, and fans saw the reveal trailer during The Game Awards 2025. However, a trademark for the sequel’s title was filed on November 27, and the sequel to Control was first confirmed by Remedy Entertainment in 2022.
Control Resonant follows Dylan Faden, the brother of the previous game’s protagonist, Jesse Faden. He will face a world-ending threat in Manhattan after being confined for several years.
In a PlayStation Blog post, Co-Creative Director at Remedy Entertainment Mikael Kasurinen says the game will be an open-ended action RPG. He says players will explore expansive zones with branching missions and events to tackle in any order.
Additionally, Resonant promises to provide a deep progression system. With this, the game will supposedly allow for different combat styles and approaches to exploration. According to Karurinen, new players don’t need to play the first Control to enjoy Resonant.

Remedy is best known for developing third-person shooters such as Max Payne and Alan Wake. The original Control was released in 2019 with a positive critical reception.
Unlike the first game, Resonant appears to have a large focus on melee combat. The player will use the Aberrant, a shapeshifting weapon that can transform into various melee weapons. The game promises fast, unpredictable combat combined with Dylan’s powers.
Kasurinen says the goal with Resonant is to expand the Control experience to be more open and dynamic. He claims that it’s the biggest game that Remedy has ever made.
“This is our chance to take the surreal, brutal beauty of Control and push it further – into a sprawling, reality-warping Manhattan full of danger, discovery, and paranatural wonder.”
Control: Resonant will be releasing on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The Game Awards 2025 marks the 11th year of the annual show, run and hosted by Geoff Keighley. This year, the nominees were led by Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Hades 2, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, and Hollow Knight: Silksong.
