GRYPHLINE has released the Nintendo Switch version of multiplayer co-op puzzle adventure platformer POPUCOM alongside a major content update and Arknights collaboration eoutfit pack. The Nintendo Switch version of POPUCOM offers fully compatibility with Joy-Con and Switch Pro Controllers. Split Joy-Con play is not supported, and Nintendo Switch Online members can enjoy online multiplayer, but cross-platform play with the PC version is not supported at the time of this writing.
Coinciding with the POPUCOM’s launch on Switch, a new content update is available on PC with a new Story Mode stage called “Frostland.” The new update also adds 10 new Party Mode stages. In addition, the Arknights collab outfit pack ($4.99) lets POPUCOM players transform into Operators. Players can also unlock the Captain Bunny’s Showdown: POMU Flood mini-game by completing the new Anti-Pomu War HQ level.
Moreover, POPUCOM has received various optimizations to the game’s multiplayer functionality. The new Quick Join system lets players instantly create public team rooms or join others’ rooms across all online modes. Moreover, Story Mode features a Stage Preference filter to help players find co-op partners.
The standard and “Too Many Clothes” editions of POPUCOM are available for $19.99 and $24.99, respectively, for Nintendo Switch via Nintendo eShop and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Too Many Clothes Edition contents include the game and the “Too Many Clothes” DLC, which features four complete outfit sets and 12 cosmetic items. A PlayStation 5 version of POPUCOM will release at a later date.
Final Weapon reviewed the Steam version of POPUCOM and gave it a 4/5 score, citing that POPUCOM is “well-crafted cooperative adventure that has just enough curveballs to keep you on your toes. Anyone looking for their next co-op adventure would be hard pressed to find a better option, especially at only $20.”
