Pokémon Legends: Z-A is the best-selling physical game in the U.S. so far in 2025, according to Circana director Mat Piscatella in an interview with Kyle Bosman. Piscatella also noted that Pokémon Legends: Z-A is expected to be one of the “big drivers” of video game sales this holiday season, and given this remark, it will likely continue to be the best-selling physical game through the rest of 2025 in the U.S.

“It’s [Pokémon’s] broken all containment from the video game world in terms of franchise strength,” Piscatella said. “It’s the best-selling physical game of the year so far already and it’s only been in the market a few weeks, and it’s going to be one of the big drivers of the holiday quarter.”

It’s worth noting that Circana tracks physical sales at retail, so digital copies of Pokémon Legends: Z-A from the Nintendo eShop are not tracked.

Sales of Pokémon Legends: Z-A may get a boost when the new Mega Dimension DLC launches on December 10 for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 in the Nintendo eShop. In Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension, Donut chef Ansha and her companion, the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa, will guide players in the realm known as Hyperspace Lumiose. The realm features Mega-Evolved Pokémon and other Pokémon not usually found in Lumiose, including those exceeding the normal limit of Lv. 100.

With the latest Pokémon Legends: Z-A update, players can now claim a Diancite Stone through the Mystery Gift feature. This Diancite stone unlocks an opportunity to encounter and catch the Jewel Pokémon Diancie through an extra side mission titled “Shine Bright like a Gemstone.” Afterward, players can visit the Looker Bureau to get Mega Diancie from a new quest.
