SEGA and Rovio have released 32-player battle royale game Sonic Rumble for Android via Google Play, iOS via App Store, and PC via Steam worldwide. Heading into today’s launch, Sonic Rumble accrued 10 million “early Rumblers,” which include total pre-registrations and pre-downloads. To celebrate, all players received the 10M Early Rumbler Chao as a free reward in their in-game mailbox.
“Today marks an exciting new chapter for the Sonic franchise,” said Sonic Rumble producer Norikazu Hirai, from SEGA. “Sonic Rumble is the first Sonic game that brings cross-play capabilities across mobile and PC, which has the potential to bring together an abundance of players in a shared experience of the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. Sonic Rumble offers a unique and highly collaborative party royale experience that we believe fans both old and new will absolutely love.”
“It is an honor to work with an IP as cherished as Sonic the Hedgehog, and Rovio is delighted to have worked with SEGA to bring the vibrant and energetic world of Sonic Rumble to a global audience,” said Rovio CEO Alex Pelletier-Normand. “We believe our experience in building and engaging worldwide communities will help to establish Sonic Rumble as a unique and memorable arcade royale experience for players around the world.”
Before launch, SEGA and Rovio released the version 1.4.0 update for Sonic Rumble. Sonic Rumble update 1.4.0 adds new Space Colony ARK stages, Biolizard Co-op Battle (November 20), Master Emerald League, and Rumble Plus upgrades.
