Wube Software has announced a Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Factorio. It is currently aiming to release the new edition in December 2025, and for those who own the original Switch version, it will be a free upgrade.
Alongside the release of Factorio on Switch 2, the “Space Age” DLC will launch for $35. According to Wube Software, the main features of Factorio – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition are as follows:
- Better resolution. The game will run on the screen’s native 1080p resolution instead of 720p. When docked, it supports all resolutions, including 2160p (4K).
- Variable refresh rate support for the console’s screen.
- Some higher quality animations.
- Some higher resolution sprites.
- Other visual improvements.
- Faster loading times.
- Ability to build much larger bases.
- Mouse mode support. Using the Joy-Con Mouse Sensor, the left or right Joy-Con can be used as a mouse.
Lastly, Factorio is available now on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, GOG, and Humble Store. The Steam page describes the game as follows:
Factorio is a game in which you build and maintain factories. You will be mining resources, researching technologies, building infrastructure, automating production and fighting enemies. In the beginning you will find yourself chopping trees, mining ores and crafting mechanical arms and transport belts by hand, but in short time you can become an industrial powerhouse, with huge solar fields, oil refining and cracking, manufacture and deployment of construction and logistic robots, all for your resource needs. However this heavy exploitation of the planet’s resources does not sit nicely with the locals, so you will have to be prepared to defend yourself and your machine empire.
