Nintendo announced the Donkey Kong Bananza will host monthly in-game events with its DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC on Nintendo Switch 2. The first event, dubbed “Chip Fever,” will be held from October 28 at 1:00 a.m. PDT / 4:00 a.m. EDT to November 3 at 11:59 p.m. PDT / November 4 at 2:59 a.m. EDT in Donkey Kong Bananza DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC.
During these new events in the DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC, Donkey Kong Bananza players can take on a special challenge with fixed conditions, including the Emerald Perks that can be obtained and Banandium Gems. By achieving target scores, players will be rewarded with character statues and Banandium Chips, which can be exchanged for standard statues. In Chip Fever, players can earn statues of Enguarde and Kong Bananza.
Nintendo released the Donkey Kong Bananza DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC on September 12 with a new explorable area and new challenges for existing layers. The release was followed up by the version 2.0.1 update, which fixed numerous issues in the game. For example, the update fixed a disc reward for collecting all the balloons in Bananza Rehearsal and remedied some issues involving Pauline’s shout voices.
Lastly, Final Weapon reviewed Donkey Kong Bananza and gave it a 4.5 out of 5 score, stating that the game is “an immaculate return to 3D for DK. Bananza offers creativity seen in very few games in our industry have achieved. Each Layer is expertly crafted, Donkey Kong is endlessly fun to control, and the narrative is surprisingly great. While the general lack of difficulty, especially with bosses, leaves a bit to be desired, Donkey Kong Bananza is one of my favorite Nintendo games of the last decade. Let’s just hope this marks a new era of consistent Donkey Kong games.”
