Dragon Ball FighterZ is Getting a New Update with Fixes for Version 1.40 Gameplay Issues

Bandai Namco and Arc System Works announced a new update for Dragon Ball FighterZ will fix various gameplay issues from the recently released version 1.40 update.

Planned fixes for the next Dragon Ball FighterZ update include:

  • Cooldown time for Z Assist (Type A, Type B)
  • Hit: Instant Blow
  • Goku (Ultra Instinct): Unrestrained Will (Sparking! state only)
  • Gohan (Teen): Super Dragon Flight (Heavy)
  • Goku Black: Fierce God Kick (Heavy)
  • Zamasu (Fused): Wall of Light
  • Other unintended changes affecting certain moves and combos

Dragon Ball FighterZ update 1.4.0 went live on October 12. The update added new functionality to Z Reflect and makes adjustments and changes to all characters, and patch notes can be read in full at Bandai Namco’s official website. To celebrate the update’s release, all Dragon Ball FighterZ players can receive up to 14 lobby characters for free as gifts if they login before November 9 at 21:59 (UTC). 

More updates will likely release in the coming months, especially with Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC character Goku (SS4, DAIMA) launching in spring 2026. SS4 Goku from Dragon Ball Daima is currently playable in Dragon Ball: Sparking ZERO with the Dragon Ball DAIMA: Character Pack 2 DLC, which launched on September 24 alongside a free content update featuring the “First Demon World Stage”. Dragon Ball DAIMA: Character Pack 2 includes six new playable characters: Goku (Mini), Super Saiyan 4; Goku (DAIMA), Super Saiyan 4; Vegeta (DAIMA), Super Saiyan 3; Majin Duu; Third Eye Gomah; and Giant Gomah.

Lastly, Dragon Ball FighterZ is available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam worldwide.
