2K Games and Cloud Chamber are overhauling development of Bioshock 4, according to a new report from Bloomberg. Additionally, the report also states that 2K canceled a remake of the first Bioshock game earlier this year.

Reportedly, Bioshock 4 recently failed a review from executives at 2K Games. The area that supposedly needs the most work is the narrative, which Cloud Chamber will rework in the coming months. As a result of the issues, 2K Games ousted Cloud Chamber’s head, Kelley Gilmore. It has also moved creative director Hogarth de la Plante to a publishing role. As such, fears of layoffs are spreading through Cloud Chamber.

In a statement sent to Bloomberg, 2K Games confirmed the change in leadership and went on to say that the company is “fully committed to ensuring we deliver a BioShock game that exceeds the lofty expectations of our fans.”

2K Games added, “We are working hard to set BioShock up for the best possible future. Right now, we have a good game, but we are committed to delivering a great one. We are working closely with leadership at the studio to define this path.”

The original Bioshock trilogy (BioshockBioshock 2, and Bioshock Infinite) is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The PlayStation Store describes the original Bioshock as follows:

Explore the undersea city of Rapture, a haven for society’s greatest minds that has devolved into a dystopian nightmare wrought by one man’s hubris. Amidst the waterlogged ruins, a new ecosystem has emerged, where deranged Splicers hunt down the Little Sisters who would be helpless without their hulking Big Daddy guardians.

Your only hopes for survival are quick thinking, reclaimed weaponry, and superhuman powers granted by DNA-altering Plasmids. To defeat Rapture’s mutated monsters, you must become one.
