Nintendo has released a new gameplay trailer for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. The game will release for Nintendo Switch 2 in Winter 2025.

The trailer also focuses more on the game’s story, featuring Zelda, Rauru, Sonia, and more. It further highlights the gameplay of Age of Imprisonment, which will allow players to use team-up attacks. There are also new attacks that utilize the power of the secret stones of those chosen to defend against Ganondorf’s rise to power. Nintendo will reveal more details about the game’s exact release date later this year. Check out the new gameplay trailer for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment below:

Previously, producer Ryota Matsushita noted that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment players can expect thrilling 1 vs 1,000 battles. Further, Koei Tecmo AAA Games studio head Yōsuke Hayashi noted that Nintendo Switch 2 offers “higher frame rates” than its predecessor. This potentially implies that 60 FPS is supported. Considering that the screenshots and footage are in 4K, it’s likely possible to achieve 4K at 60 FPS.

In another interview, Hayashi also stated that, “As a matter of fact, when development of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment had begun, we were initially developing it as a Switch 1 title. Halfway through the process however, we shifted it over to Nintendo Switch 2.

But just by transferring what we had already finished to the new upgraded hardware, the amount of enemies that could be shown on screen and the frame rate saw a great increase, and the overall fun factor the game offered had increased dramatically. Even we were surprised at how much the improved hardware had improved the experience.”
