Makoto Yukimura’s Vinland Saga manga series has ended with its 220th chapter in the September 2025 issue of Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine. The issue also confirmed that the final volume of Vinland Saga will release on September 22 in Japan.

Yukimura also shared a lengthy message on X (formerly Twitter), thanking fans for their support of the series.

Yukimura launched the series in 2005. Kodansha released the manga’s 28th volume in June 2024, and the series will end with 29 volumes published this September. More than seven million copies of Vinland Saga are in circulation. Currently, the Vinland Saga anime is streaming now on Netflix and Crunchyroll, and the manga is available to read at Kodansha.

Lastly, Kodansha describes the series:

As a child, Thorfinn sat at the feet of the great Leif Ericson and thrilled to wild tales of a land far to the west. But his youthful fantasies were shattered by a mercenary raid. Raised by the Vikings who murdered his family, Thorfinn became a terrifying warrior, forever seeking to kill the band’s leader, Askeladd, and avenge his father. Sustaining Thorfinn through his ordeal are his pride in his family and his dreams of a fertile westward land, a land without war or slavery… the land Leif called Vinland.
