For the future updates, the developers want players to know that they are still hard at work regarding the ‘Ranked Match’ implementation. Development is progressing smoothly, but due to the security updates implemented last month to address the data leaks, the developers are currently preparing for an August release.

For those unaware, unlike the current ‘Rank Tower’, which assigns a player’s rank across all characters, the new Ranked Match mode called ‘Duel Tower’ will be character-specific. Players will begin with 10 placement matches to determine their rank per character. Moreover, high-level players will retain some rank protection when trying out new characters. For example, players with a top rank like Vanquisher will not be placed too low, even if they lose their placements.

Overall, the new system aims to reduce smurfing, which is intentionally lowering rank to fight less experienced opponents.

Additionally, the August update will introduce major universal gameplay changes, with a focus on player feedback.

  • Wild Assault: Its utility will be toned down to reduce overreliance.
  • Guard Crush: Adjustments aim to make it less oppressive and easier to counter.
  • R.I.S.C. Gauge: Will accumulate more gradually, reducing cases of sudden, extreme damage.

Lastly, the Nintendo Switch version of GGST will receive a comprehensive update in Fall 2025. This update will include the following:

  • New playable characters Venom, Unika, and Lucy
  • Ranked Match mode and balance updates
  • Addition of Digital Figures
  • Fixes for text readability issues in specific languages
